Get ready for summer with this refreshing margarita, based on the original classic from Mexico. Named after the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, in the heart of tequila country, this adjusted recipe makes for a sensational beachside tipple, while also offering another addition to your tequila cocktail repertoire.
Difficulty Level
Easy
Ingredients
2 parts Reposado tequila (if you're feeling spendy, use Don Julio)
3/4 part Cointreau
1 1/2 parts juice from fresh limes (you can cheat by using Santa Cruz organic lime juice, which contains nothing but limes)
1/2-3/4 parts simple syrup (we prefer 1/2 part, but some prefer sweeter)
Directions
Place all of the ingredients in a shaker filled 1/3 with ice and shake vigorously. You can also use a pitcher filled 1/4 with ice and stir.
Garnish
Salt the rims of tall skinny glasses and then fill with ice, pour, and enjoy!
Alternative
MANGO ALTERNATIVE: For a Mango Vallarta, reduce the simple syrup to 1/3 part and add another 2/3 part of mango nectar (or fresh pureed mango if you dare to be so fancy).
